Scope and Contents: This collection contains the fundraising and promotional materials used by the Maryknoll Sisters. It is comprised of 9 series that are housed in 11 Hollinger boxes. The records in the collection fall within the date range of 1941-2017.
Series 1, Calendars, includes the promotional calendars produced to Maryknoll and either mailed or handed out to donors and/or other interested parties. The Archives does not have every calendar produced.
Series 2, Cards, contains various cards of all types that don’t fit within any other series. Types of cards include bookmarks, Christmas cards, various greeting cards, and cards that contains scripture quotes by arranged by topic.
Series 3, Film Strips, contains two slide shows that the Sisters used in mission education. Materials include the actual film strip, notes, cassettes, and guide booklets.
Series 4, Mailings, contains samples of the various mailings sent to donors, covering a wide range of topics (seasonal appeals, acquisition mailings, departure appeals to name a few). The series is arranged into 68 subseries: one subseries each for the years 1944 through 2017 and one for undated material.
Series 5, Pamphlets, contains the pamphlets created by various departments to promote Maryknoll. There are three subseries that contain pamphlets on specific topics: Maryknoll Sisters in Mission series, Planned Giving, and Religious. The Religious subseries are pamphlets of a religious nature that are not specifically about Maryknoll, but produced by the Sisters.
Series 6, Postcards, include postcards of scenes of Maryknoll buildings and grounds used for promotional purposes. There are three subseries: New York, Pennsylvania, and Albums.
Series 7, Prayer Cards, includes undated prayer cards. All prayer cards that are dated are included in the Mailings series as that was how they were delivered to donors and potential donor.
Series 8, Slideshows, contain slides and cassette tapes that were used by the Sisters in their mission education efforts.
Series 9, Vocations, include informational sheets, pamphlets, and posters used to try to obtain vocations.
