Record groupings that make up the Maryknoll Mission Archives are:

Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers (Catholic Foreign Mission Society of America):

A US Catholic society of priests and brothers dedicated to missionary work both at home and overseas. They work side-by-side with the poor, combating poverty, providing healthcare, building communities and advancing peace and social justice as a living witness to God’s love.

Collections Identifiers for this record group begin with MFB.

Maryknoll Sisters (Maryknoll Sisters of St. Dominic):

Maryknoll Sisters give witness to God’s love and devote their lives in service overseas. As nurses, doctors, teachers, theologians, social workers, environmentalists and more, they serve the needs of the people – the poor, the ailing and the marginalized – where they are missioned. Their mission began in 1912, when they became the first group of Catholic Sisters in the United States founded for overseas mission.

Maryknoll Lay Missioners (Maryknoll Mission Association of the Faithful):

A Catholic organization inspired by the mission of Jesus to live and work with poor communities in Africa, Asia, and the Americas, responding to basic needs and helping to create a more just and compassionate world. Maryknoll Lay Missioners come from all over the United States and from a wide variety of backgrounds and professions to serve in mission.

Not all collections within the Maryknoll Mission Archives are solely created by one entity. Many regions, projects, and programs are run as collaborative efforts. Whether created by all three entities, Maryknoll Society, Congregation, and Lay Missioners, or two out of the three, these collections represent the materials Maryknollers have created together.

Collection identifiers of this record group begin with C.
